How long does it take?
Onboarding usually takes 2 to 5 working days. It depends on how quickly you sign the engagement letter and send your identity (KYC) documents. We then submit your application, and HMRC asks applicants not to chase for 40 working days. See how long registration takes.
What checks do you run before taking you on?
We are supervised for anti-money-laundering by HMRC, so we verify the identity of every director and anyone owning 25% or more, and ask what the business does and where its money comes from. For a legitimate business it takes about a day.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to register for VAT?
HMRC charges nothing to register for VAT. If you use an accountant, you pay their fee for handling the application and HMRC’s questions. Our fixed fees are in the table on this page.
Are your fees fixed?
Yes. We agree a fixed fee in writing before we start. If something outside the agreed scope comes up, we quote it first.
Do your prices include VAT?
All our prices are shown before VAT. If your business is in the UK, we add VAT at 20%. If your business is based outside the UK, we normally don’t charge UK VAT on our fees.
What if HMRC delays my application?
Chasing HMRC and answering its questions is included in the registration fee. We don’t charge extra because HMRC is slow.
